Mac-ish Ceremony Act

iPod classicGood evening fellows!

Having ordered an iPod classic black (80 gigs) and an Apple Keyboard, I recieved my two packages today. I was all excited since I haven’t ordered anything from apple in 10 months, so it felt really good to get that kick again. Apple addicts will know what I am talking about.

So start right away with my new Apple iPod classic. As I said it can hold movies, tv shows, podcasts (video, audio), audiobooks, photos up to 80 gigabyte. Considering how thin this thing is, I started questioning myself where Apple put the harddisk (this is no flash device). I mean, I love it. It holds a lot of media, so your bus ride has to be really long until your iPod starts repeating itself.

The new interface is quite amazing. I love the preview of album art works. So it has this shuffle effect. Oh, I didn’t know that I had that kind piece of crap/beauty on my iPod. Yeah, the preview can be quite embarrassing. Follow this link and you’ll find this awesome comic.

Your iPod classic comes with the usual gimmicks like Calendar, Addressbook, Games (iPod Quiz, Klondike, Vortex), Notes, a screen lock function (finally!) and most importantly a stopwatch (not that I will start running, but knowing that you could time yourself is so satisfactory. Kidding!). The search function is nice too, because I wouldn’t judge you if you got lost in 80 gigs of music, pictures and videos.

Coverflow — The feature everyone already knows from iTunes (the one you can impress Windows people) is quite nice. I like having the option, but I am quite sure, that I will not use it on a daily basis. Again, I’ll use it to show off in front of Windows people. Practical, though.

I used to have a usual iPod (4th generation, that is), so I am not used to having so many types of media in my pocket. Very refreshing, I have to point out!

As to video playback: The Pod only supports this strange format. It is quite common for Mac users though. Use this piece of software to convert your video files: iSquint. Pretty easy to use, so you shouldn’t have a problem with that!

The battery life should be improved significantly. 40 hours of music playback.

See Apple’s specs for more info.

Finally, here comes my 2 cents for the Keyboard: I love it and I can’t imagine switching back to my older Wireless Keyboard. I had Bluetooth issues, so it finally made me buy the wired version of the new flat Apple Keyboard. I do not regret it, because I don’t mind that wire. Not at all! Typing fast is just amazing and I love watching myself type on that freaking thing. I am a geek, but it’s just beautiful ;). One negative thing (that is quite positive): You do not have to type the way you usually do, it’s more of a soft touch. So i can imagine that I will end up with sore fingers once I get used to it too well. Huh. Funny.

Here are some pictures, so you can see for yourself, that this is really flat and has a beautiful shape. Get in line and ask for an appointment to try the keyboard on my Mac. Just kidding!

Thank you for your attention.
